Drop in temperature, dusty winds to continue across Egypt Monday

A sandstorm followed by heavy rains, lightning, and thunder, hit the streets of Cairo and other Egyptian governorates on Sunday evening, with weather still unstable across the country


Egypt's meteorological authority (EMA) said Monday's temperature will witness a drop accompanied by dusty winds, a statement by EMA read.

Cairo is expected to witness a high of 23 and a low of 16. The Mediterranean coastal city of Alexandria will see a high of 22 and a low of 15.

The Canal cities of Suez and Ismailia are expected to see both a high of 23 and a low of 15. The Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh will see a high of 32 and a low of 29, while Hurghada is expected to be at a high of 31 and a low of 21.

The statement said that the dusty wind could lead to low visibility and difficulties for maritime traffic on the Red Sea as well as the Mediterranean.

According to a statement by the spokesperson for Alexandria's seaport, Reda El-Ghandour, Alexandria and Dekheila ports were closed Monday morning due to weather conditions.

"Some clouds accompanied by rainfall are expected to be witnessed in the northern coast and in Upper Egypt," the statement read.
