Nour El-Sherbini and Nouran Gohar sets up an all-Egyptian final to ensure the country would win its first ever British Open title in the women's contest
An Egyptian female will finally be crowned British Open champion for the first time after Nour El- Sherbini defeated Nicol David and Nouran Gohar caused an upset by overcoming defending championCamille Serme to set up an all-Egyptian final on Saturday.
Nour El Sherbini beat five-time champion Nicol David of Malaysia 3-1 and Gohar defeated Serme 3-2 in an exciting affair to qualify for Sunday's final.
World number five El Sherbini had the upper hand over the world's number two with a (11/6, 2/11, 11/9, 11/6) win in 43 minutes to advance to the final of one of the most prestigious tournaments in Squash.
"To The Finalss been trying since 2012 to get back to the final of the most prestigious event on tour and I finally did it," El Sherbini said on her Facebook page.
"Happy with my performance and hopefully one last push tomorrow."
Gohar won the opening two games 12/10 and 11/9 before Serme stormed back with two 11/9 wins. However, Gohar, ranked eighth in the world, won the final game 11/9 to emerge winner.
El Sherbini came closest to landing the British Open title in 2012 when she lost to Nicol David in the final.
