Egypt and world number one Mohamed Elshorbagy beat fellow countryman Ramy Ashour 3-0 on Monday to retain his British Open title.

Elshorbagy took just 27 minutes to snatch the prestigious squash title from Ashour after winning in three straight sets (11/2, 11/5, 11/9).

"I am really happy to be able to defend my title and win my second British Open," Elshorbagy said after the match.

"It's been a crazy season for me. Ramy is such a great player and we're really happy to have him here again," he added.

In the semis on Saturday, world number five Ashour defeated Frenchman Gregory Gaultier 3-2, while Elshorbagy advanced with an easy 3-0 win over compatriot and world No.7 Karim Abdel-Gawad.

Ashour won his maiden British Open title in 2013 at the expense of Gaultier.

Earlier on Sunday, Egypt also won its first British Open title for women after world number five Nour El-Sherbini defeated compatriot No.8 Nouran Gohar in another all-Egyptian final.
