Alexandria International Festival for Contemporary Theater (AIFCT) returns for the second year after the first edition was held last year in May, bringing plays from eight countries as well as shows from Egypt.

Organised by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's Arts Centre (BA), the festival aims to draw public interest to theatre and expose Egyptian audiences to different and unique performances, while providing a platform for Egyptian audiences to explore contemporary art from the international scene.

This year's vibrant and diverse programme of theatre, dance and puppetry includes shows from Cameroon, Poland, Sweden, India, Columbia, Moldova, Germany, Tunis and Algeria.

There will also be two plays from Egypt,Rouh (Soul or Spirit) by Bassem Qenawy, and Shakespeare’s Women by Mohamed Eltayea.
