Egypt's African Confederation Cup debutants Maqassa conceded a late goal to lose 1-0 at Algeria's CS Constantine in the first leg of the competition's round of 16.
Former Bologna and Lazio midfielder Mourad Meghni scored the winner one minute from time to spark wild celebrations in the stands.
His angled free kick eluded all defenders and neslted into the net to give Constantine a narrow first-leg advantage.
Maqassa earlier had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside when Hassan El-Shahat fired in on the rebound after a free-kick was parried into his path.
The second leg will take place in Egypt on 19 April.
Fellow Egyptian side ENPPI take on Gabon's Mounana in the Confederation Cup on Sunday.
