Egyptian parliamentarian Mohamed El-Khouly of Fayoum died on Thursday after suffering a heart attack.
El-Khouly, who was 56, had been admitted to hospital in Fayoum city Wednesday evening.
He represented the Fayoum constituency from 2000 to 2010.
The House of Representatives and the High Elections Committee are expected to announce the holding of elections in Fayoum within 60 days to fill El-Khouly's now-vacant seat.
El-Khouly is the second MP to pass away during parliament's current term, with MP Sameh Seif El-Yazel, the head of the Support Egypt bloc, dying earlier this month.
