Hot weather forecast across Egypt during Easter holiday

Most of Egypt will see hot weather over the long weekend with Cairo, Alexandria and the Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh expected to see temperatures reaching well into the 30s


Egyptians are expected to continue to experience hot weather into the second day of their national holiday, when many spend time on the beach at the Red Sea or north coast.

Sunday and Monday are non-working days which mark Egypt's Labour Day, the Orthodox Easter and spring holiday Sham El-Nessim respectively.

On Sunday, temperatures in the capital Cairo are expected to peak at a high of 38 Celsius degrees (100 Fahrenheit). Low temperatures will drop to 18 C (64 F). The coastal city of Alexandria will see largely cooler weather, with a high of 27 C (80 F) expected.

Monday is forecast to also see hot weather, with temperatures predicted to hover around a high of 37 (98 F) and lows of 23 (73 F) in Cairo.Alexandria will be hotter than on Sunday, with a 5 C rise in high temperature to reach 33 C.

Temperatures in Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh, two of the most popular Red Sea beach resorts, will record highs of 38 and 34 respectively and lows of 19-24 C.

The hot weather will result in moderate conditions for navigation in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea with an average wave height of 1-2m on both days.
