Pakistani officials: A pair of US drone strikes killed at least 10 militants in Pakistan's tribal district of Khyber, targeting the same valley for a second day running

A pair of US drone strikes killed at least 10 militants in Pakistan's tribal district of Khyber on Friday, targeting the same valley for a second day running, Pakistani officials said.

The strikes hit two different villages in Tirah, the same valley where a US drone attack on Thursday killed seven militants in either the first or second such strike in Khyber, officials said.

The officials said the first strike destroyed a compound in the Sipah area of Tirah, killing at least five militants. A drone then fired two missiles into another compound in the Malakdin Khel area.

"Five militants were killed in the second strike. All of them were local TTP militants," one security official in Peshawar told AFP, referring to Pakistan's main Taliban faction known as Tehreek-e-Taliban.

A second security official confirmed both strikes, saying the death toll may rise.
