Zamalek are still searching for organisers for their centenary celebrations as well as a prestigious international team to host

Egyptian giants Zamalek announced that they have received many offers from international agencies to organise their centenary celebration and was promised to play big international clubs.

“We have received many offers including one from a UAE agency, and we are studying them,” centenary committee chairman, Ahmed Sherin Faouzi, told Ahram Online.

“Bayern Munich confirmed that they are available to meet us in a friendly between 6 and 20 November,” he insisted.

Faouzi was reportedly linked with a series of statements about hosting prestigious international teams, the likes of Italians Ac Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma to English Manchester United, besides Spanish Real Madrid.

Liverpool was the last on the list. Unfortunately, they cancelled the friendly due to security concerns, according to Zamalek, after the raucous scene after Egypt’s Cup match between Ahly and Kima Aswan in Cairo Stadium last week. In total, 140 police officers and Ahly fans were injured.

The Egyptian Premier League leaders were originally set to hold their 100-year festival five months ago, but was interrupted when Egypt’s January 25 Revolution erupted.

The Cairo-based club was established on 5 January, 1911. Their football team has won the Egyptian league title 11 times and the Egypt Cup on 21 occasions.
