The head of anti-trafficking blames Egypt's nationwide shortage of benzene and diesel to the smuggling of fossil fuels into Gaza


Major General Mohamed Ismail, head of the anti-trafficking General Administration of Food Supply, put the nationwide shortage of petroleum and diesel down ‎to the smuggling of fossil fuels into Gaza. ‎

Lately, a shortage of benzene and diesel in several Egyptian governorates has been repeatedly ‎reported. ‎

Ismail explained that fossil fuels have been constantly smuggled from Egypt to Gaza through tunnels ‎and small fishing boats.‎

In an interview with the television programme, 90 Minutes, Ismail asserted that Egyptian authorities are exerting ‎huge efforts to deter fuel smuggling.‎
