Skeet shooting: Egypt's Azmy Mehelba sets new world record ahead of Rio Olympics
Ahmed Abd El Rasoul, , Monday 30 May 2016

Egyptian skeet shooter Azmy Mehelba matched the world record by achieving the full mark at the Fazz's Italian Green Cup on Sunday ahead of the anticipated Rio Olympic Games in Brazil in August.

Mehelba, ranked world number two by the International Shooting Sport Federation, has scored 125 of 125 in the men’s skeet shooting competition; a record achieved only six times before.

The international shooting open event was held in Italy with the participation of the best shooters from all over the world.

Mehelba, 25, was the first Egyptian to ensure a place at the Rio Olympics after achieving the skeet bronze medal in the World Championship in 2014.

It will be his second-ever Olympics appearance, as he participated in London’s 2012 Olympic Games where he returned home empty handed.
