Cairo theatres offer vibrant programme for Eid El-Fitr

Egypt's Artistic House for Theatre announced a vibrant line-up of plays and theatre performances during Eid El-Fitr


Starting 7 July, Egypt’s National Theatre will once again host Layla Min Alf Layla (One of a Thousand Nights), the successful theatre production starring Egyptian actor Yehia El-Fakharany and directed by Mohsen Helmi.

Layla Min Alf Laylapremiered on 13 August 2015 and had grossed EGP 1 million by October 2015.

The performance is based on the poetry of late Egyptian poet ‪Bayram El-Tunsi with music from late Egyptian composer Ahmed Sedki. The crew comprises Egyptian actress Heba Magdy, singer Mohamed Mohsen, actor Lotfy Labib as well as Diaa Abdelkhalek, Salma Gharib and the National Theatre's artists. 


Also starting 7 July, the Zaki Toleimat stage at Al-Talia Theatrewill host a new theatre performance titled Al-Itr. The performance is scripted and directed by Mohamed Allam and stars an array of young actors.

Moreover, the play Al-Insan Al-Tayyib will return to Salah Abdel-Sabour’s stage in El-Talia Theatre. The play stars Naglaa Younis, Hany Abdel-Nasser, Hossam Hamdy and Mostafa El-Zayyat. It is scripted and directed by Said Soliman.

Al-Talia Theatre’s garden will host the Neanaa El-Genaina performance starting 7 July. On 10 July, Nasr City’s International Garden will host Ward Wa Yasmeen, a performance by special-needs artists. It is scripted by Ayman El-Nemr and directed by Sherif Fathy.

For its part, the Masrah El-Ghad troupe will stage their play Jamila twice on 8 July at El-Ghad Theatre. The play is written and directed by Marwa Radwan.

Salah Jaheen’s stage at El-Ballon Theatrewill host the play Karakeeb El-Sahra, which is written by Yasser Allam and directed by Hesham Aly.

As for children’s performances, the National Theatre for Children will present El-Rassam El-Mawhoub play, written and directed by Zayn Nassar, starting 7 July at Nasr City’s International Garden.

The International Garden will also host the Puppet Theatre troupe, which will present Abou Ali, written by poet Sayed Hegaband directed by late director Salah El-Sakka starting 7 July.
