Egypt deputy prime minister and minister of finance resigns in protest at killing of Copts: Sources
Sources have stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Hazem El-Beblawi has resigned from his position in protest at the government's handling of Sunday night's violent Maspero clashes, in which 24 protesters were killed and hundreds were injured.
El-Beblawi, who is a member of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party (ESDP) was appointed to these government posts in 16 July 2011. AhramOnlinehas learnedthat the ESDP willshortly issue a statement onEl-Beblawi's resignation.
