Interior Minister Magdy Abdel-Ghaffar attended the funeral march of an Egyptian police officer on Saturday who had been in a coma since being shot in 2013 while securing a police station that was under attack.

Captain Mostafa Yousri was shot in the face on 16 August 2013 while securing El-Asbakia police station in Cairo, during a wave of violence that followed the security forces' deadly dispersal of two large protest camps supporting ousted president Mohamed Morsi.

Yousri, who had been in a coma since the incident, had received treatment in Egypt, Switzerland and Germany but died on Friday.
