The Egyptian High Administrative Court has found in favour of an appeal submitted by the Journalists' Syndicate, thereby overruling a prior ruling to halt the syndicate’s elections. The original ruling was made on the basis that the syndicate's General Assembly could not legitimately call for elections.

The Journalists' Syndicate was due to hold its elections last Friday, 14 October. A new polling date has yet to be announced.
