Wenger blames split squad for poor Arsenal start

Arsene Wenger says “half of the dressing room” wanted to leave Arsenal in the summer, creating circumstances that would have caused other clubs to implode

Arsenal is slowly recovering from a dreadful start to the season that included an 8-2 loss to Manchester United.

In an interview with French radio RTL on Monday night, Wenger said the departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas destabilized the squad. He acknowledged a lot of players were “wondering what kind of earthquake (had) hit the club.”

He said other clubs “would have imploded.”
