At a very small store at the corner of Al-Ahram and Ibrahim streets in Heliopolis, a large group of young women and menqueuingat the beginning of the weekend -- waiting for their turn at fried ice cream or ice cream rolls.

For over a year, Ice Rolls, the small shop with a few stools on the inside and a few chairs on the pavement, has been attracting ice cream lovers, across the seasons.

Their menu has only two ice cream flavours: vanilla and chocolate, but with that comes endless bites of fruits and candybars, which are smashed into very small pieces before being thrown on a freezing tin and covered with super soft cream.

They are rolled together and come in five tasty units put side by side in a small paper cup, or they are just assembled in one big roll before being covered with oats or corn flakes, or even Bassboussa or Kounafa, and then dropped into a frying pan to be served with a large choice of sauces and bits of fresh fruit.

The list of most popular items on the menu of Ice Rolls include the vanilla&Twix with caramel sauce, the vanilla&mango, the chocolate&Oreo with chocolate sauce.

The best part, for some clients, especially children, is to watch the process of making the rolls.

Another plus for the clients of Ice Rolls is the many nearby cafes that allow a space to sit and slowly enjoy the cold and warm delicious cups – with an option for the subsequent tea or coffee.

On average, a cup of Ice Rolls could cost anything from a basic LE20 for vanilla&banana or around LE35 for the fried ice cream with sauce and fruits on top.

Having been a success at the heart of old Heliopolis which has so many popular ice cream bars, Ice Rolls is planning a Mohandiseen branch in the early weeks of 2017.
