Ohio State University was on lockdown Monday amid reports an active shooter was at large on the campus in Columbus, with students told to run or take shelter, emergency services said.

"Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College," the Ohio State University emergency management service tweeted.

A second tweet moment later told the public to "Continue to shelter in place. Avoid area of College."
