Injury will sideline Ahly’s defender Mohamed Nagiub for at least four weeks, while midfielder Mohamed Barakat is still recovering

Ahly will miss the services of defender Mohamed Nagiub for four to six weeks due to injury, the club’s doctor announced on Saturday.

The player was injured in the last minutes of the Cairo giants’ 2-0 win over Ittihad of Alexandria in the fourth matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Friday.

Specifically: “Nagiub picked up a muscular tear in his groin and will be out of action for four to six weeks,” as told by Ahly’s doctor, Ihab Aly, to the club’s official website on Saturday.

“The player will undergo further scans on Wednesday to determine the best rehab programme,” he added.

Naguib, who joined Ahly from Ittihad El-Shorta contributed in leading the Red Devils to the league summit (with eight points) after securing the club’s first win after two successive draws against Gouna and Petrojet.

Ahly’s midfielder Mohamed Shawky is doubtful for the club’s coming clash against Dakhleya on Wednesday, as he was also injured on Friday’s match.

“Shawky suffers a muscular strain and may miss the Dakhleya clash,” the doctor declared.

The Cairo giants already suffer from the absence of talented midfielder Mohamed Barakat, who is still recovering from a fractured arm injury that kept him out for four months. Sherif Abdel-Fadil has also been out.

“Barakat is still recovering and will not catch the coming two matches against Dakhleya and ENNPI. He must avoid tackles in the training sessions to avoid being reinjured,” the doctor concluded.

“Abdel-Fadil’s injured knee will be examined tomorrow to determine when he will return to the training sessions,” he concluded.
