Alaa Abd El-Fattah to be held pending further investigations for inciting violence on 9 October while Bahaa Saber, also summoned for questioning, has been released for now

Prominent Egyptian activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah has been detained by Egypt's military prosecution for 15 days pending further investigation in to charges they incited violence on 9 October, the night known as "Black Sunday".

Meanwhile, fellow activist Bahaa Saber was released pending further investigations into similar charges.

On arrival at the military prosecution headquarters, Abd El-Fattah and Saber refused to answer the prosecutions' questioning, on the grounds that military prosecution has no legitimate right to question civilians.

The Egyptian military are themselves held responsible by many for inciting and carrying out the violence seen that night at Maspero, in which 26 people died.
