The Arab Relations Committee in the Egyptian Writers’ Union (EWU) called for a protest and a march to the headquarters of the League of Arab States Wednesday in collaboration with the Syrian people.
“The committee decided to organize a cultural day to express the solidarity of Egypt’s authors with the Syrian people” said the head of the committee, the poet Hussein El-Qabahi.
He pointed out that this day will include a march heading from the headquarters of the EWU in Zamalek to the head quarters of the League of Arab States to hand a document demanding the League of Arab States Secretariat to take the necessary procedures to freeze the current Syrian system’s membership in the League of Arab States.
Many Egyptian authors and poets will participate in this march, among them: Bahaa Taher, Ahmed Abd El-Moati Hegazy, Hassan Teleb, Farid Abo Seada, Said El-Wakeel and several persons from the Syrian community in Egypt.
The events of this day include seminars and poetry reciting sessions in the headquarters of the EWU.
Several Syrian activists and authors will participate in these events.
