Coach Hany Ramzy will start preparations for Olympic qualifiers with friendlies after Al-Adha feast

The Egyptian Olympic team are to play two friendlies against Senegal in November ahead of their 2012 London Olympics qualifying campaign.

“We will call up 30 players on 8 November for a closed camp before two friendlies with Senegal [on 11 and 14 November] as the Senegalese team arrives in Cairo on 9 November,” Egypt Olympic manager Hany Ramzy told Ahram Online.

“There are communications with the Nigerian Football Federation to hold a friendly with them on 18 November,” he added.

Egypt’s U-23 team, which are drawn with the Ivory Coast, South Africa and Gabon in the final phase of qualifiers, are bidding for their first qualification since 1992.

Amid their preparations, Ramzy’s squad replaced the seniors in the last two meaning-less matches of the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, against Niger andSierra Leone, following the failure of the first team to qualify for the championship they won three successive times.

“New faces will join the team after monitoring fresh talent in the Egyptian Premier League,” Ramzy insisted.
