Art Alert: High Dam to perform music of Egypt's south in Alexandria

Alexandrian-based band High Dam will perform at Bibliotheca Alexandrina on 26 January.

In a concert titled Let’s Dance, High Dam will bring Nubian and African music and dances to the stage.

The band formed in April 2012, and according to their Facebook page are the first Alexandrian-Nubian band.

Their aim is to preserve Nubian musical culture from disappearance by modernising traditional compositions.

The eight-member band is comprised of singer Hassan Jamaica, singer and keyboardist Loai El Nakib, MR.Booney and Amr Moo on lead guitar, Ahmed Remo on bass guitar, Ahmed Khairy and Mohamed Gomaa on percussion, Mohamed Gomaa and Karem Mahmoud on the drums.
