We just have to focus on World Cup qualifiers: Gyan

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan said his team should turn their attention to the 2018 World Cup qualifiers following their disappointing fourth-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The Black Stars face an uphill task to make it through after a poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign which saw them collect a solitary point from their opening two matches.

They were held to a goalless draw at home to Uganda before losing 2-0 to Egypt in Alexandria, the results which left them third in their group and cast serious doubts over their ability to qualify for the Russia finals.

"Is disappointing, we are all disappointed and I know Ghanaians are disappointed as well, much was expected from us," he told Metro TV on Wednesday.

"For now we just have to focus on the World Cup qualifiers, we have a game in a couple of months’ time and we have to win."

Theoretically, Ghana have no choice but to win their four upcoming games against Congo (twice), Uganda and Egypt to keep their hopes alive in the World Cup qualifiers.
