The multimedia exhibition is curated by Studio Khana

A group exhibition titled The Violent Silence of the New Beginning will open 18 February, featuring the work of 11 artists.

The exhibit is curated by Cairo’s Studio Khana for contemporary art, in cooperation with the Austrian, French and Swedish cultures centres in Cairo.

The participating artists include six Egyptian artists; Mohamed Abdullah, Ahmed Abd El-Fattah, Asmaa Abd El-Wahab, Hader Hammam, Marwan Sabra, and Walid El-Sawy, in addition to five international artists; Léo Dorfner and Cécile Chaput from France, Markus Hofer from Austria, Soji Shimizu from Japan, and Celine Burnand from Switzerland.

The exhibition promises a multicultural visual experience, and plays on context. The featured works include artworks from the sixties that the artists reproduced, analysing the historical contexts, and relating them to the present time.

Studio Khana was founded in 2012 with the aim to foster an alternative artistic space for young artists in the contemporary art scene, and to encourage methods of analysing the status quo, and examining important social questions through art.

Programme:
The exhibition opens on 18 February and will run till 28 February
