Egyptian Women's World No. 3 Raneem El-Welily snatched her third PSA World Series tournament title Wednesday, beating fellow Egyptian Nour El-Sherbini 3-1, while World No. 7 Marwan El-Shorbagy lost to French No. 3 Gregory Gaultier 3-1 in the final game early on Thursday at the Windy City Open.

El-Welily needed 42 minutes to beat world No. 1 Nour El Sherbini 3-1 (10/12, 11/7, 11/7 and 11/7), adding the 2017 title to her 2015 and 2016 crowns.

"She [El-Sherbini] played really well in the first game and I wasn't sharp enough," El-Welily was quoted as saying on the tournament's official website.

"Half-way through the first game I started to find my spots and my angles. Even though I lost that first game, I knew that I was on my way to find the right plan. I'm really happy to win today, it's fantastic," she added.

"Chicago is my lucky city and I'm always happy to be here.

"I'm very happy. Very glad with how I performed after a tough match yesterday – I didn't expect to play that well," the World No. 3 said.

"Winning three times in a row is so unlike me – I'm happy I managed to do that." El-Welily concluded.

Egypt's Marwan El-Shorbagy, who made his first appearance in a PSA World Series tournament final this year, failed to beat France's Gaultier despite ousting his brother and World No. 1 Mohamed El-Shorbagy in an emotional quarterfinal.

"I am really happy – it's amazing to win these kinds of major titles so it will be nice to see my name on this beautiful trophy once again," Gaultier said after the game.
