Spanish side Villarreal have offered Ahly's midfielder Nasser Maher a trial, the Cairo club said on Tuesday.
According to local reports, Villarreal had asked the midfielder to join the team for 10 days of training next month, after which they will decide whether to pursue their interest in the 20-year-old.
"We welcome any official offer to any of our talented players," Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz told Egyptian sports website FilGoal.com.
"If Villarreal table an official offer, any transfer is contingent on the opinion of coach Hossam El-Badry."
Maher is currently on loan at fellow Egyptian Premier League club Petrojet, where he produced some fine displays this term.
Ismaily's defender Amro Tarek is the last Egyptian player to join a Spanish La Liga side, having had a brief spell with Real Betis in the 2015-16 season.
Former Egypt striker Mido also had a short loan stint with Celta Vigo in 2003, helping them reach the UEFA Champions League.
