Directed by French-Canadian director Denys Arcand, The Barbarian Invasions (2003) will screen at Cairo’s Room Art & Space Café on 30 April.
The movie revolves around a dying man who meets with his son, ex-wife, old lovers and friends.
Shot in Montreal, the film is a follow-up on one of Arcand’s films, The Decline of the American Empire (1986), which revolves around a professor who is diagnosed with cancer.
The Barbarian Invasions stars Marie-Josée Croze, Rémy Girard, Dorothée Berryman, and Stéphane Rousseau. The two-hour film won an Oscar in 2004 for Best Foreign Language Film.
Croze won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003, where the film also won the Best Script award. The film has won several other awards and was nominated in both BAFTA and the Golden Globes.
