Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim moved to allay the worries of disgruntled players, saying the club will be financially boosted in the coming few days.

The cash-strapped club are struggling to pay the salaries of their players, some of whom said they would file a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and demand their contracts be terminated.

In-form striker Amr Zaki has made no secret of his desire to depart in next January’s transfer window while right-back Hazem Emam has given the club a five-day ultimatum to fulfill their financial obligations towards him.

“We will receive 2 million pounds in the coming period. We will get 1.4 million from television rights and $150,000 from Falcon Group, which organized Zamalek’s game against Atletico Madrid in our centennial celebrations,” Ibrahim said on Wednesday.

“We are also in negotiations with Ahram’s advertising agency to receive one of the instalments of our deal with them, which is worth 5 million pounds.

“I just hope the players would be patient. They will receive their overdue payments soon,” he added.

Ibrahim has come under fire for failing to improve Zamalek’s financial position after being appointed by the Egyptian National Sports Council to take charge of the club until the next board elections take place.

The White Knights lie fifth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 10 points, four behind leaders and arch-rivals Ahly, who have played a game more.
