Egypt’s Sisi ratifies new sports law
Ahram Online, , Thursday 1 Jun 2017

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi approved on Thursday a new law that regulates sporting activities, Minister of Sports Khaled Abdel-Aziz announced.

The new legislation, law no. 71 of 2017, will create a judicial body that will have the power to judge sports disputes and to regulate spectators’ attendance.

The law also details penalties and fines for spectators who violate the ticketing system, verbally or physically assault spectators or players, are found in possession of drugs or fireworks, or establish illegal groups or associations.

In May parliament referred the law to the president for ratification.

Now that El-Sisi has ratified the new sports law, the sports tripartite committee will finalise the associated executive regulations through extraordinary general assemblies of clubs and sports associations.
