Saudi outfit Al-Taawoun have signed Egypt national team veteran keeper Essam El-Hadary for one season from Wadi Degla without disclosing the financial details.
El-Hadary, who turns 45 next January, will be the first foreign goalkeeper to appear in the Saudi League, after a long period during which non-Saudi goalkeepers were barred from from joining the domestic league.
El-Hadary attracted attention with a series of outstanding performances with Wadi Degla over the past season.
The High Dam El-Hadary, who joined Degla in 2015 from Ismaily, is considered one of the best-ever keepers in Egyptian and African history after guiding his country to three Nations Cup titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
The former Ahly, Zamalek, and FC Sion (Switzerland) goalie was given the African Keeper of the Year Award in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
