Morocco forward Khalid Boutaib said on Tuesday the Lions of the Atlas will prove their worth at next year's World Cup, stressing they will not head to Russia to "as tourists".

Morocco reached the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after defeating Ivory Coast 2-0 in Abidjan on Saturday to lead Group C with 12 points, four ahead of second-placed Ivory Cost.

"We will do our best in the upcoming World Cup," Boutaib told France Football on Tuesday.

"We have to prove our worth in Russia. The players will not head there to make tourism but to prove that we deserve to be in Russia."

The Malatyaspor forward was instrumental in Morocco's qualifying campaign, scoring four goals in four games.

Morocco made four appearances at the World Cup, having reached the round of 16 in 1986 when they lost 1-0 to Germany.
