Egypt loses one position in FIFA global rankings

The Pharaohs, who last month secured a precious ticket to the World Cup after 28 years of absence, have only played once in November, when they held with Ghana 1-1 away in a redundant game during the last round of the qualifiers.

Egypt became third among African countries behind Senegal (23), who made a huge nine-position jump, Tunisia (30) and DR Congo - above (36) and Morocco (40).

The Pharaohs, who were ranked in the global top ten in 2010 during their golden era after three successive Africa Cup of Nations wins (2006, 2008 and 2010), are awaiting the World Cup draw this month.

They are now in the third class of the global rankings after placing 30th last month.

Germany kept their place in the lead of the global ranking ahead of Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.
