Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed regional developments with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone call on Monday, the Egyptian presidency announced.
According to the statement, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in Syria and Libya, as well as how to reach political solutions in each of the countries.
Presidents El-Sisi and Putin also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian situation, regarding which the Russian leader expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation.
The statement also noted that Putin offered his condolences to his Egyptian counterpart over the terrorist killing of hundreds of Egyptian worshipers in North Sinai's Al-Rawda mosque two weeks ago.
Putin asserted that his country, both as a government and as a people, were supporting Egypt's efforts in the war against terrorism.
The two leaders also discussed Egyptian-Russian bilateral relations concerning the military and commercial and transportation sectors, as well as the two countries' joint cooperation over building Egypt's first nuclear power plant at El-Dabaa in the Matrouh governorate.
