Leicester boss Claude Puel said on Thursday he does not fear losing team's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez in this January transfer window, insisting the player is happy at the club.

The Algeria international has been recently linked with a transfer to Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham during the January transfer window, but Puel is confident that his player will stay at the club beyond January.

"When I discussed things with him, he had a good attitude and is enjoying his football," Claude Puel told Sky Sports on Thursday.

"He is a happy player and likes to play with his teammates," added Puel.

"His statistics have improved, with assists and scoring. Of course I want him to continue all this good work."

"He is happy to play with this team, he enjoys his football and this is the most important thing."

The 26-year-old produced a string of fine displays in the Premier League since joining Leicester from French side Le Havre in January 2014.

He helped the club win a historical Premier League title in 2015, and he was named African player of the year in 2016.

Mahrez, whose contract with Leicester expires in the summer of 2020, scored seven goals in 22 appearances so far this season.
