Zamalek and Maqassa agree five-player swap deal

Cairo giants Zamalek and Maqassa have agreed to a swap deal that will see three players from the Whites move to the Fayoum-based side and two others going over to the opposite side.

A statement was released by Maqassa revealing that club president Mohamed Abdel-Salam has met with Zamalek's directors and agreed to let go Ghanaian striker Nana Poku and midfielder Emad Fathi in exchange to striker Salah Ashour, Ahmed Magdi and Mohamed Ramadan.

The deal hasn't been finalized yet, but it will be completed during this January's transfer window, the statement added, without specifying any financial details.

New Zamalek coach Ehab Galal has announced that he will be looking to strengthen his squad in January and has pointed out the duo as top target, as he had favored them during his three-year spell at Maqassa from 2014 to 2017.

Galal is looking to boost his misfiring frontline with a top finisher and 25-year old Poku seems to fit. He had already scored 23 goals of 45 goals under his command.

Midfielder Emad Fathi is set to partner with Tarek Hamed to provide more creativity in midfield.

Coach Galal will axe the three players in order to trim his squad down to size.

The former Maqassa and Enppi coach is keen to work with a smaller squad than his current one, which boasts more than 30 players.

While Ashour and Magdi could not make an impact in the handful of games they featured in, Ramadan was a no-show this season and the trio is heading towards Zamalek's exit door just six months after being brought in.

Zamalek already released Ali Fathi and Osama Ibrahim earlier today.
