Boosted by Friday's Super Cup triumph, holders Ahly will be eyeing extending their recent success -- despite a current defense crisis -- when they visit Talae El-Geish in the Egyptian Premiere League on Monday.
The Reds restored the balance after some shaky results, beating Petrojet and Nasr, before thrashing arch rivals Zamalek 3-0 in the Cairo derby last week.
Ahly's revival continued on Friday when they defeated Masry 1-0 to clinch the 10th Super Cup title.
The Cairo giants, Ahly, currently lie second at the league table with 39 points, two behind leaders Ismaily, who have played two matches more.
Beating El-Geish will push Ahly to regain the league summit, but the hosts will not be such an easy opponent after their recent solid performances.
The military side, the eighth in the league table with 25 points, have not lost in their last six league matches, winning the last three including Zamalek's test.
"We hope that the morale boost of the Super Cup victory continues to beat El-Geish to return to the league summit," Ahly's assistant coach Ahmed Ayoub told reporters on Sunday.
On Tuesday, Ahly will be suffering from a clear defense crisis as stopper Rami Rabiaa recently joined teammate Mohamed Nagiub on the injury list to add more woes for coach Hossam El-Badry.
Central defender Saad Samir was not included in the squad, but junior defender Mohamed Abdel-Monem has received his first call up to the senior team this season in a bid to fill the gap.
Key duo right-back Ahmed Fathi and midfielder Hossam Ashour also will not be available due to fatigue.
