Hot air balloon trips suspended in Luxor due to bad weather

Hot air balloon trips have been suspended in Egypt's Luxor governorate as of Tuesday due to risky weather conditions, Al-Ahram Arabic website reported.

The Luxor hot air balloon airport decided to cancel balloon trips on Tuesday due to the lack of visibility and bad weather conditions.

Essam Abdel-Aziz, director of the airport, told Al-Ahram Arabic website that early morning mist caused lack in visibility and that for the safety of the tourists, the balloons trips have been cancelled on Tuesday.

Trips will be resumed as soon as weather conditions improve, according to officials.

In January, high winds caused a hot air balloon to crash in the governorate, killing a 36-year old South African tourist and injuring 13 other foreign tourists during a tour over the Valley of the Kings.
