The series, titled Baraka, is directed by Mahmoud Karim and stars Hala Sedki and Amr Saad
Al-Ahram Arabic has taken a look behind the scenes of the upcoming Egyptian drama Barakat.
The filming took place at a flat inHeliopolis district, whereactorsAmr Saad, Hala Sedki, Enaam Salousa, and Rana Raeiswere shooting their scenes.
The series cast also includes Aida Reyad, Abdel Rahman Abouzahra, Kamal Abu Raya, Ahmed Halawa, Ryad El Khouly, Mostafa Darwish, and Omar Zahran, among others.
Saad’s character istrying to prove his innocence, while Sedki portrays the title character, a mother named Baraka from Upper Egypt who tries to protect her son.
Salousa plays the role of a grandmother and Baraka’s neighbour. She helps the main character to deal with the problems he is facing, while Raeis plays Baraka’s younger sister.
The show weaves together comedy and thrills, as well as tackling a variety of social issues. It will air in Ramadan, which this year begins on 15 May.
The series’ young director Mahmoud Karim noted the long hours involved in making the programme, telling Al-Ahram thatthere are days that include 16 hours of shooting.
