Liverpool star Mohamed Salah believes Egypt's training camp was a successful one which "everyone benefited from" despite the 1-0 friendly defeat by Greece on Tuesday.

The Pharaohs played two friendlies during their March training camp in Switzerland, where they lost 2-1 to Portugal before slumping to another defeat against Greece.

However, Salah - who sat out the defeat by Greece as Egypt manager Hector Cuper experimented with new faces - believes Egypt greatly benefited from these games.

"The games were important; it was a good experience for us, everyone benefited from the friendlies," Salah, who scored against Portugal, told ONSport channel after the match against Greece.

"The training camp was a good one; everyone played and the new players also played as well."

Cuper, who led Egypt to a World Cup place for the first time in 28 years, played with two different lineups against Portugal and Greece, fielding a second-string side in the latter friendly.

The Pharaohs open their World Cup campaign against Uruguay on 15 June before taking on hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia in Group A.
