Portuguese President Rebelo de Sousa in Cairo to discuss bilateral relations with Egypt's Sisi
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa arrived in Cairo late on Wednesday for a three-day visit where he will meet with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Thursday to discuss boosting ties between the two countries, Egypt's state news agency MENA reported.
Rebelo de Sousa will also meet with Egypt's top religious authorities; the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar – the world’s foremost institute of Sunni Islamic learning – Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II.
The Portuguese president, who is accompanied by a high-level delegation, will also open an Egyptian-Portuguese business forum organised by the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Portugal's state Trade & Investment Agency.
The gathering will be attended by a number ofEgyptian and Portuguese business executives.
