After losing two friendlies against heavyweights Portugal and Greece in March as part of preparations for the 2018 World Cup, Egypt national team have dropped two positions in April’s FIFA global rankings, down to 46th place.

The Pharaohs are fifth among African countries and third among Arab countries, after Tunisia and Morocco. Tunisia jumped 9 places to (14) with Senegal at (28), Congo DR (38) and Morocco (42).

Egypt's national team lost the two friendlies 2-1 against Portugal and 1-0 against Greece as part of a training camp in Switzerland.

Egypt, who are paired with Saudi Arabia, hosts Russia and South American powerhouse Uruguay in Group A in this year’s World Cup, have previously announced that they would face Belgium in Brussels on 6 June in their last match before heading to Russia to make their first World Cup appearance in 28 years.

Egypt made it into the world's top ten when they won three successive CAN trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

There were minor changes to this month’s top ten, while Germany remained on top ahead of Brazil.

The best movers this month are Kyrgyz Republic, who jumped up 40 places to 75, while the worst movers were Haiti, who dropped 23 places to 108.
