High winds close Suez, Nuweiba seaports ahead of rise in temperatures across Egypt
A spokesman for Egypt's Red Sea Ports Authority announced Thursday morning that the Suez and Nuweiba seaports have been closed due to heavy winds and ocean swells up to 4 meters.
Meanwhile, Egypt's Meteorological Authority (EMA) also warned on Thursday that heavy winds are expected to hit some parts of the country and may develop into sandstorms in Cairo, the Red Sea, Sinai and Egypt's south.
Egypt's Traffic Authority has closed the Western Desert Road of Upper Egypt's Assiut governorate as a precaution.
Temperatures are expected to see a sharp rise in most parts of the country, the EMA said.
Cairo is expected to receive a high of 39 degrees Celsius and a low of 25 C, while Alexandria governorate will experience a high of 32 C and a low of 19 C.
Nile Delta governorates will experience a high of 38 C and a low of 24 C. The high for southern Upper Egypt is expected to be 45 C and the low 36 C.
