Sisi wishes 'shining star' Mo Salah a speedy recovery after Champions League injury

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisihas wished Liverpool wunderkind Mohamed Salah a speedy recovery a day after a shoulder injury took him off the pitch during the UEFA Champions League final.

"My best wishes go to the Egyptian heroMohamed Salah. I hopehe returns back to the pitch very soon and stays a shining star for Egypt," the president wrote on his Twitter account on Sunday.

Salah left the game injured after taking a tumble,following atackle from RealMadriddefender Sergio Ramos at the 28th minute of the game on Saturday night.

His injury required treatment on the pitch and although he came back on moments later, he then crumbled to the ground for a second time, leaving the pitch in tears.

Salah's injuryhassparked fear for Egyptians fans, with the country’s first World Cup showing in 28 years just weeks away.

Many Egyptian social media users have since been berating Ramos, accusing him of foul play. "Ramos is a dog,'' was one trending topic on Twitter, along with other insults.

Initial reports were that Salah had dislocated his left shoulder.

On Sunday, Egypt’s sports minister said that Salah was suffering from a shoulder ligament sprain and that he would only need two weeks to recover, leaving him ready to compete in Egypt’s first match on 15 June.

The seven-time African champions have this year reached the World Cup for the first time since 1990. They will play in Group A, alongside Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and hosts Russia.

Egypt will faceUruguayin their first match, followed by Russia on 19 June. Their final group stage match will be against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.

Salah has scored 44 goals in all competitions in this, his first season for Anfield. Her performance won him the Premier League Golden Boot, among numerous other awards.
