Egypt congratulates first Egyptian national to serve as Dean of Media in a German University

Egyptian national Mohamed El-Sayed Badr was congratulated on Wednesday by Egypt's Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs for taking the Deanship of Media in one of Germany's Munich Universities.

The 39 year old was awarded the position following heated competition with 17 German professors.

According to his portfolio on the website of Macromedia University in Munich, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Badr is a Professor of Media and Communication Management at the university specializing in international businness communications.

His educational background includes three master degrees and a Ph.D. granted from prestigious European universities, i.e. La Sapienza University of Rome (Rome, Italy), Rome University of Fine Arts (Rome, Italy), Macromedia University for applied Sciences (Munich, Germany) and Alexandria University (Alexandria, Egypt).

Mohamed El-Sayed Badr, originally from Alexandria, is the youngest expat in Germany to take such a position, according to the Egyptian Ministry. He moved to Germany in 2011 and has held the position as head of the international Media and Communication management bachelor program at campus Munich since 2014.

Egypt’s Immigration Minister Nabila Makram expressed her deep pride in Egyptians living abroad, pointing out their competence in many different fields and their ability to hold high-ranking positions "no matter their age, since their efficiency allows them to be in the front lines."

He was also named 'Best Professor in Germany' in 2017 after competition with 72 German professors, the Ministry added, saying that he is known for establishing joint media programs between London’s University of Westminster and Macromedia University in Munich.He has also headed the University of Westminster joint program since 2016.

The German Embassy in Cairo has applauded Badr for his achievement, wishing him all success in the new post.
