The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has agreed with its Saudi counterpart to hold a Super Championship that combines local cup and league champions from both Arab countries in one competition.

Egypt Cup winners Zamalek are initially scheduled to face-off with Saudi Cup champions Ittihad on 6 November in Cairo, two days before Egyptian League champions Ahly and Saudi League holders Al-Helal meet in Riyadh.

"Representatives from the two boards met in Cairo Sunday at the EFA headquarters. Another preparation meeting will follow after the two boards approve the initial schedule," EFA stated on their website Sunday afternoon.

The cooperation between the two football bodies is old, with many Egyptians starring in the Gulf country in recent decades, but it is flourishing lately after Saudi investment in Egyptian football, led by chairman of Saudi Arabia's Sports Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh.
