A late goal by Ahmed Abdel-Ghany gives Haras El-Hodoud a ninth consecutive Egyptian Premier League win


Harras El-Hodoud maintained their stunning Egyptian Premier League run with a late 3-2 victory over promoted Bani Suef Telephones in an exciting affair on Wednesday.

In-form attacking midfielder Ahmed Eid gave El-Hodoud the lead after 17 minutes but Mostafa Mehanna equalized for Bani Suef Telephones, who were playing their first match under new coach Ashraf Kassem, on the stroke of halftime.

Few moments later, forward Ahmed Mekki restored El-Hodoud’s advantage for his seventh goal of the season.

Bani Suef Winger Ahmed Shoukry, who is on loan from Cairo giants Ahly, drew them level again in the 56th minute but El-Hodoud striker Ahmed Abdel-Ghany gave his side a precious win with three minutes remaining.

El-Hodoud, who have only lost once so far this season, remained on top of the table with 28 points, four ahead of nearest challengers Ittihad El-Shorta.

Defending champions Ahly, who have two games in hand, are third with 23 points.
