Playing arrangements of the Arabic and Western compositions, the Mosaic ensemble includes French horn, piano percussion, double bass, oud and qanun
The debut concert by Mosaic Ensemble will take place on Monday 1 October at the American University in Cairo in the Fifth Settlement in New Cairo.
The aim of the ensemble is to create a new musical dialogue between French horn and instruments characteristic to Arabic music: oud and qanun, all accompanied by piano, percussion and double base.
Mosiac ensemble's line-up includes Amr Abulnaga (French horn), Alaa Saber (oud and qanun), Mahmoud Mekhemer (piano), Ahmad Osman (double bass) and Hisham Kamal (percussion). Mosaic was founded by Amr Abulnaga, who will also direct the concert.
The compositions include a range of Arab composers such as Sayed Darwish and Fouad Abdel Meguid, in addition to works coming from the Western classical repertoire such as Albinoni's Adagio, topped with works that carry a jazz flair, etc.. All compositions are arranged by members of Mosaic ensemble.
The debut concert promises to provide a unique experience for attendees.
