Russian President Vladimir Putin has received in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on Wednesday his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for bilateral talks in the third official meeting between the two leaders.

El-Sisi arrived in Moscow on Monday for his second official visit to Russia since he assumed office in 2014.

The official talks are set to cover several important topics and an exchange of views on the most important international and regional issues of mutual interest.

Aide to the Russian president Yuri Ushakov announced that a range of new weapons and military equipment will be offered to El-Sisi during his two-day visit to Sochi, according to Russia Today.

“The offered military equipment and arms might be purchased by Cairo in the future,” Ushakov said.

El-Sisi and his Russian counterpart are expected to sign a range of bilateral agreements, the Egyptian presidential spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday.

President El-Sisi arrived late on Tuesday to the Russian city of Sochi, where he and President Putin held informal talks ahead of their official meeting on Wednesday.

The two leaders informally exchanged views on crucial topics of common concern and on regional and international issues.

Ahead of flying to Sochi, El-Sisi met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow, where they discussed trade, investment, tourism and other issues of mutual concern.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Egyptian president addressed the Russian Federation Council on a range of bilateral and regional issues.
