Egypt's friendly against UAE cancelled: Team director
Ahram Online , Sunday 11 Nov 2018

Egypt's friendly game against the United Arab Emirates, scheduled for 20 November, was called off, the team director said on Sunday without providing reasons for the abrupt decision.

The Pharaohs would only play against Tunisia in Friday's African Nations Cup qualifier, Ihab Leheita told Egyptian sports website

"Egypt's training camp will conclude after the Tunisia game after consultations between the Football Association and coach Javier Aguirre," Leheita added.

Reports said the Egyptian FA originally agreed with its UAE counterparts to field full-strength sides in the friendly but that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah informed them that he might not be able to play.

The EFA has also yet to get an approval from FIFA to turn the friendly into a full international game.

Egypt and Tunisia, who have both already qualified for next year's Nations Cup finals in Cameroon, meet at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium in the penultimate qualifier on Friday.

Tunisia are on top of the group with 12 points, three ahead of Egypt, who face Niger in their final qualifier in March 2019.
